Celebrating NAIDOC Week 2026: Country, Culture and 50 Years of Deadly

NAIDOC Week 2026 provides an opportunity for all Australians to celebrate the rich history, culture, achievements and continued contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This year marks a major milestone: 50 years of NAIDOC Week, reflected in the national theme, “50 Years of Deadly.” We reflect on five decades of resilience, culture and leadership, honour the Elders and communities who carried this movement forward, and look ahead to the next generation continuing that legacy.

At CVA, we are proud to support meaningful opportunities for communities to connect with Country, learn from Traditional Owners, and participate in activities that celebrate and strengthen culture. These events foster understanding, respect and collaboration, while highlighting the deep and ongoing connection between First Nations people and Country.

These NAIDOC Week events are proudly delivered through CVA’s Revive Our Wetlands project, which supports the restoration and protection of important wetland environments while strengthening community connections to Country. We thank Chevron Australia for their partnership and ongoing support of the project, enabling opportunities for Traditional Owners, local communities and volunteers to come together to share knowledge, celebrate culture, and contribute to the care of our natural environment.
