#SeaToSource Port Phillip Bay

Join the #SeaToSource Port Phillip Bay project to tackle plastic pollution! Take part in free beach clean-ups, workshops, and citizen-science activities to protect our waterways and wildlife.

CVA recently completed a 3-year project focused on mobilising the community to reduce marine debris in the Werribee River Catchment and Port Phillip Bay which engaged close to 1000 people and removed 2948kg of litter from waterways and beaches, 71% of which was plastic.

Now we want to continue this great work! We have a collaborative and community-centric approach that empowers individuals to be the solution to reducing litter and plastic pollution at home and in their communities.

They’ll participate in activities like:

  • CSIRO litter surveys and data collection
  • Large community clean up events
  • Source reduction workshops.

By directing attention both upstream – at the source – and downstream – on beaches – and by collaborating with communities, this project aims to identify and mitigate pollution in and around Port Philip Bay.

The SeaToSource Port Philip Bay project is supported by the Victorian Government through the Port Phillip Bay Fund.
