BMA #SeaToSource Mackay

Welcome to #SeaToSource, a project powered by Conservation Volunteers Australia and supported locally by BHP Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA), aimed at empowering individuals and communities to take action on one of the world’s most solvable environmental issues – ocean litter.

Conservation Volunteers Australia are reducing marine debris in the Mackay region and engaging with the local community to raise awareness on ocean litter and ocean health. By facilitating monthly clean-up events we are able to connect our community members to local marine environments and encourage positive environmental behaviours. We also have opportunities for school engagement activities, creative hands on source reduction, CSIRO monitoring and more!

In Mackay, Conservation Volunteers Australia are members of the Local Marine Advisory Committee and Healthy Rivers to Reef Partnership, this allows us to communicate our findings to local groups, who are proactive in working together to find solutions to issues affecting our oceans.

BMA #SeaToSource Mackay has been established to spread awareness on ocean litter and involve the community in preventing litter from entering our oceans; as well as encouraging behaviors that will positively impact the health of our oceans well into the future.

So, if you’re looking to improve the health of our waterways and communities, whilst spending a great day out on the beach, come and join us!
